Why Our New Indoor–Outdoor Structure Is a Game Changer

The Famba Hybrid System is officially off and running, and so far, it’s been a huge success.

Our students are loving the calisthenics gym locations where we now run our indoor group lessons and the progress across the board has been impressive. The energy is high, the results are clear, and the direction we’re moving in feels better than ever.

When we began searching for new training spaces, we had a few non-negotiable parameters. One of the most important was finding gyms that genuinely support calisthenics. That meant we needed pull-up bars, parallel bars, open floor space, and of course some weights we could use occasionally to complement our calisthenics-focused work.

Surprisingly, this wasn’t easy in Amsterdam West.

Many commercial gyms and studios are designed almost entirely around weight-training machines. And while machines have their place, the trade-off is that they occupy a huge amount of space. In many gyms, once all the equipment is squeezed in, there’s barely room to do a handstand or even stretch. I’ve trained in places where finding a small corner just to warm up was almost impossible.

So when we were selecting a home for our Group Personal Training, securing a space that truly accommodates calisthenics was essential. We wanted a location where we could continue our calisthenics progress, maintain freedom of movement, and practice the foundational and advanced elements that make our training unique. Proximity to Rembrandtpark, the heart of calisthenics in Amsterdam, was of course another huge requirement. As many of you know, Rembrandtpark is where calisthenics in Amsterdam was born, and it’s where calisthenics thrives. People travel from all over to train at Rembrandtpark.

Fortunately, we found two great indoor spaces.

Our Two Calisthenics Gym Locations

  • Tuesday evenings 19:00-20:30
    A gym slightly further out (12mins) in Egelantiersgracht in Jordaan, but it’s completely private, we have the entire space to ourselves.

  • Wednesday evenings at 20:00-21:30
    A gym 2 minutes from Rembrandtpark at Heemstedestraat, which is spacious and equipped perfectly for our needs.

Both gyms have already proven to be excellent environments for our style of calisthenics training.

Our hybrid structure gives students the best of both worlds:
Two indoor lessons + Three outdoor lessons every week.

Indoor training is comfortable, focused, and free from weather limitations. You don’t have to think about the cold, the rain, or unexpected wind, you can zone in completely on your technique and progress.

Outdoor training, however, brings its own set of benefits.

Yes, the elements can be challenging. Maybe it’s chilly, wet, or windy. But pushing through that adds mental strength, emotional resilience, and a sense of accomplishment that indoor training simply can’t replicate. Overcoming these obstacles gives a huge mental boost and a deep sense of clarity.

That’s why this hybrid model is so powerful:
You get the physical benefits of structured indoor training AND the psychological development that comes from outdoor sessions. It’s the complete package and our students are already feeling the difference.
