Outdoor or Indoor? How Personal Training at Famba Actually Works

One of the first things people ask about personal training in Amsterdam West is where it actually happens.

The short answer: mostly outdoors in Rembrandtpark, with an indoor space two minutes away for whenever you need it. But how that plays out session to session is worth explaining properly.

Here’s how training at Famba really works, month to month, weather included.

What does an outdoor session look like?

Most sessions take place in our outdoor calisthenics area inside Rembrandtpark — bars, rigs, open grass, built specifically for bodyweight and strength training. There’s something about training outside that changes how a session feels: more space, more air, less of the self-consciousness that can come with a crowded gym floor.

When do you move indoors?

When the weather makes outdoor training genuinely unpleasant or unsafe — heavy rain, ice, that kind of thing — we shift two minutes down the road to our indoor space. Same coach, same programme, same intensity. Nothing about your training plan changes, just the four walls around it.

Can I choose which one I prefer?

To an extent, yes. Some clients love training outdoors as often as possible and only come inside when the weather forces it. Others prefer the indoor space more consistently — maybe because of noise, privacy, or simply preference. We work around what keeps you training consistently, because consistency is what actually gets results.

Does the season affect how personal training works here?

It shifts the balance rather than the substance. Spring and summer mean more time outdoors in Rembrandtpark; autumn and winter naturally push more sessions indoors. What stays constant is the coaching itself — your programme is designed around your goals, not the calendar.

Is outdoor training actually effective, or just nice to have?

It’s genuinely effective — our outdoor set-up is built for real strength and calisthenics training, not just casual movement. As one client, Karthik Mohan, put it: “The classes aren’t just fun and challenging, they’re also thoughtfully adapted for everyone’s individual needs.” That adaptation happens whether you’re training under the trees or indoors.

So which is right for me?

Most people don’t need to choose — they get both, depending on the week. If you have a strong preference either way, mention it when you book your consultation call and we’ll build your programme around it.
